Ir por always followed by noun ?

Hello

I would like to ask that this structure always followed by noun like la página, la mitad etc. Or conjugated verb or infinitive verb can also be used or anything ?

Hola Davesh S.

Yes, when ir por is used to express the point or stage someone has reached (as in "va por la mitad", "vamos por la página 10"), it is always followed by a noun or noun phrase — something that refers to a measurable stage, quantity, or section. That noun shows how far someone has progressed in a task, journey, or process.

You cannot use a conjugated verb or infinitive in this structure. For example:

Vamos por la mitad del libro. (correct)
Vamos por leer. (incorrect)
Va por lee. (incorrect)

So in this context, ir poris followed by a noun, like la página, la mitad, el segundo intento, otro café, etc.

I hope you find this explanation useful.

Saludos

Silvia
