To say "I live TO the north of ...." you would say in Spanish "Vivo al norte de..."
For example if you live in a village which is located in the northern part of a city, say for example Liverpool, you'd say: "Vivo AL norte de Liverpool, en un pueblo/barrio que se llama...."
