How to answer the questions in this topic

I don't think that I have a problem with the concept, but I did answer incorrectly. Your topic is entitled (alternative to querría) and this also appears above the questions. I checked/ticked only the "quisiera" answer since it is the alternative. Apparently I should have ticked the "querría" answer as well, which I feel is not a grammatically correct answer to the question.

Hola A. D.

That’s a great question, and you’re not wrong to pause here. This is a subtle but important point.

In this topic, quisiera and querría are both grammatically correct and can be used to express “I would like”. That’s why, in this specific exercise, both options need to be selected. The quiz is checking recognition of all valid alternatives, not just the one highlighted in the lesson title.

Even though the topic focuses on quisiera as an alternative to querría, that doesn’t make querría incorrect. In fact, in many contexts (especially neutral or everyday speech), querría may even sound more natural to learners.

So the key takeaway here is:

  • Quisiera = correct

  • Querría = also correct

When both are valid, the quiz expects you to tick both.

Thanks for raising this — it’s exactly the kind of question that shows a strong understanding of the language rather than a misunderstanding.

Best wishes,
Silvia

Hola Marcos R

Yes, exactly — thanks for clarifying that so well.

The title “Alternative to querría” is meant to highlight quisiera as an additional option learners may not yet be familiar with, not to exclude querría from being correct. In other words, the title points the learner’s attention to quisiera, but it doesn’t mean that querría suddenly becomes invalid in the exercise.

That’s why, in the quiz itself, both forms are accepted and expected when they are grammatically and pragmatically correct. The aim is to test recognition of all valid options, even if one of them is already familiar or not the main focus of the lesson title.

Thanks for raising this. It’s a very reasonable point and feedback like this helps us reflect on how lesson titles can sometimes be interpreted.

Best wishes,
Silvia

I think A. D. meant that he was not expecting "querría" to be one of the answers because the title of the topic, "Alternative to querría", would contradict that.
