How common is "vosotros" in Latin American Spanish?

I've been learning Spanish slowly for many years now, from taking classes, learning online, and speaking with native speakers.  My interactions in Spanish have been limited to Latin Americans, primarily due to the fact that I live somewhat close to the US/Mexico border.  In my previous learning, I've been made aware of the word "vosotros" but not much beyond that.  The conjugations I had previously been taught omitted the "vosotros" form.  I have also never heard the word "vosotros" used in any conversations.
 
I'm curious how common it is as the lessons I am going through have the conjugations for that form, as well as examples.  I'm not sure how much focus I should place on relearning conjugations for the vosotros form given my preference to learn Latin American Spanish.

Hola JeremyYou won't hear the vosotros pronoun and conjugation being used around Latin American people. They would use the "ustedes" form and its different conjugation instead. Vosotros is a pronoun only used in Spain. We include it in the conjugation tables in the lessons but if your focus is "Latin American Spanish" you won't have any test-question asking you about the vosotros conjugation. We have it set up that way for Latin American Spanish learners. If you ever get a test-question using vosotros, please let us know, but you shouldn't. Living where you live I wouldn't worry about the vosotros conjugation at all (unless you want to add more knowledge in Spanish of course).Bear in mind that we have bi-lingual texts that are sometimes focused on content related to Spain, sometimes related to Latin America and sometimes something that is standard for both. All this content is available to all learners regardless of their specific focus. We try to maintain a good balance between both variants though. The same goes for other types of exercises like dictations and writing challenges, where you'll find content related to the two as well. I hope this clarified it for you.Un saludo cordialInma
