el reflejo

In my experience, and according to my dictionary, reflection (in a mirror or an observation) is el reflejo, unless it is the action in physics of something bouncing of something else

Hola Leslie

A "reflection" as in a "thought", which is what this expresses in the text, is "una reflexión" in Spanish (or synonyms like un pensamiento, una consideración...). See entry 2 in Collins dictionary for "reflexión". "Un reflejo" in Spanish conveys something different; a reflection in the mirror, or a reflection that is projected because of the light. See entries here for the word "reflejo" in Spanish.

I hope it clarified it.

Un saludo
