Can por be used?

Hola,

We have porque, que and como in this construction - and we know that por can mean 'because of' - can it also be used as a causal conjunction in this sense?

Yes, "por" can be used as a causal conjunction, for example:

"Pablo fue expulsado del colegio por mal comportamiento"

Pablo was expelled from school for bad behaviour.

"Pablo fue expulsado por comportarse mal."

Pablo was expelled for behaving badly.

"Pablo fue expulsado por haberse comportado mal"

Pablo was expelled for having misbehaved.
