...bien parada...

Buenas tardes Silvia ( o Inma),

I answered this Kwiziq test today:

Tú saldrías bien parada de tu divorcio". In contexto here, does it mean 'alright' as in 'well-off financially'?

Can it be used with other meanings? I haven't seen this before... but I really love finding new words/phrases/idioms to add to my big notebook! Which I have to say is not a digital notebook, since I find that I register and remember things much better if I actually write pen to paper. Perhaps it's an 'age thing' jajaja!

Gracias de antemano 😊

Hola Clara M.

In this context, salir bien parada means to come out of a situation in a good or favourable way. It does not necessarily refer to being “well-off financially,” although that could be one interpretation depending on the situation.

More broadly, it means that despite the circumstances, the person ends up in a good position, unharmed, or not as badly affected as expected.

This expression can be used in many contexts, not just financial ones.

For example:

Salió bien parado del accidente. He came out of the accident without major injuries.
La empresa salió bien parada tras la crisis. The company emerged from the crisis in a strong position.
Saliste bien parada de ese examen. You did well / You came out of it better than expected.

It’s a great expression to add to your notebook, as it’s widely used and quite versatile.

If you’d like more examples or similar expressions, just let me know.

Saludos,
Silvia
