articles in front of non-paying lifestyles

What about using an article in front of being a stay at home parent? Soy madre. Soy padre. Is there an equivalent of this in the Spanish language?

Hola April

Yes, when you are saying you are a mum or a dad, not only for a stay at home parent but also in general just to say that you have kids you also drop the article and say:

soy madre, soy padre

You can add more information saying how many children you have and still drop the article:

soy madre de dos niñas pequeñas,  soy padre de gemelos...
