Is "Qué es tú nombre?" also a valid way to ask what is your name?
I am afraid not. Questions using "Qué es..." are asking for a definition of something, for example:
-¿Qué es "paella"? -Paella es un plato de comida típico de Valencia.
When we ask what someone's name is we are not expecting a definition, we expect a direct answer with a name. The confusion comes normally from the use of "what" in English, which is "qué".
I hope this clarified it.
Have a look a this lesson on uses of qué when asking.
The preferred question word to use is "which"... "Cual es tu nombre?"
Yes because it is asking what is your name.
