Newsletter: Making Your Own Choices 🎲

 Making Your Own Choices

This week we’re working with two stories that focus on change, independence and somehow breaking free! Our first activity is a fill-in-the-blanks exercise based on a conversation between a girl and her mom, in which she explains her decision to go to Australia in search of adventure; It’s a great opportunity to practice relative pronouns like lo que and el cual in context.

You’ll also get into a reading and listening activity where Beatriz, a young woman, decides to move to a new place so she can have a bit more space of her own.

¡Esperamos que les guste! 😉

¿Conoces esta expresión?

“Ir a tu aire”

guy walking away from a group

This is a very useful expression you can use to impress your Spanish or Latin American friends (and your teacher 🤓). It means that you prefer to do your own thing instead of following the crowd.

Ir a tu aire
To do things your own way / to do your own thing

Todos tenían un plan, pero yo fui a mi aire.
Everyone had a plan, but I did my own thing.

Ella va a su aire y no sigue las normas del grupo.
She goes her own way and doesn’t follow the group rules.
