Verb translation. According to my Spanish dictionary, the verb "colgar" means to hang whereas "upload" is cargar. I used the latter verb, because the sentence is "... I will upload a photo on my social networks." Why was my response marked incorrect?

Colgar does mean hang, but it also means to upload.
Descargar definitely means download and I have come across it many times, and yes some dictionaries [e.g. Interglot] do give Cargar for upload, even though my WordReference dictionary doesn’t. I can’t see why Cargar can’t be given as an alternative answer. Gracias y Saludos. John

Cargar is not a common word that we use when referring to transferring something from a mobile phone to the internet - for this we use subir or colgar (the latter generally for pictures). We use cargar when we are referring to the process of "loading" a file, for example:
El archivo se está cargando. Le queda unos segundos.
