tan/tanto ?adjective vs. adverb

Would it be fair to say that tan is an adjective and tanta (o,as,os) is an adverb?

Not quite - tan is an adverb (it modifies another adverb or another adjective): "Lo vi tan mal que me dio pena"/ "No seas tan antipático con ella"; and tanto can be either an adverb or an adjective; it's an adverb if it modifies the verb: "¡No comas tanto!" but it is an adjective if it modifies a noun and needs agreement: "¡Tengo tanto miedo! / "Tú no tienes tantas monedas."

Again thank you. However, I had really meant to ask if it was fair to say if tan is an ADVERB and tanto (a, os, as) was an ADJECTIVE. I reversed the definitions, sin querer. I understand now that tan in fact is an adverb only, whereas tanto can be both an adjective and an adverb. Now, one last question, when used as an adverb, is it always tanto, ending in the letter o, or is it ever used under circumstances that call for tanta, tantas, or tantos? Gracias de antemano.

Hola Gerald"Tanto" used as an adverb is always "tanto" (no other form). And also when used as a conjunction, for example: "Invité a mi fiesta tanto a Luis como a Marcos".Inma
