How could we get to know that this exact word is a stem changing verb? Isn’t there any recognition for them?
There is no way to know if a verb is a stem-changing verb or not, I am afraid. They need to be learned by groups. We group them by the type of change they undergo. In the present for example you find e -> ie verbs, e > i verbs or o > ue verbs. They are random verbs that don't have anything in common.
