questions on ser, estar

hi team,

May i clarify on some sentences?

Los paisajes están preciosos en esta estación del año.
I would think to use ´ser ´ as it is characteristic of the autumn season that we are talking about.

En esta época, voy a empezar un proyecto nuevo y voy a ser muy feliz.
For this sentence, i would think to use estar as i will or going to be happy, which sounds like a change in mood.

Hope to clarifies.

Thanks in advance.

Hola Ashlyn

Your conclusions sound very logical and using the verb ser instead of estar in the sentence about the landscapes in autumn would also be correct. However the logic followed by the narrator in this case is that the fact that the landscapes are/look so beautiful is a consequence of the arrival of the autumn, therefore this is seen more as a "result", i.e. because we are in autumn the landscapes are beautiful (they weren't that beautiful before): there is a change, a result; in which case the verb estar is more appropriate.

Your second comment about "being happy", again, your logic is spot on, but with the adjective "feliz" there is a tendency to use "ser" (however we use estar with the synonym "contento/-a") and even when the nuance is that of a "change" we still tend to use ser with feliz.

Having said that, I noticed that there is no hint in that line instructing to use "ser", so we will include that hint shortly.

I hope this helps.

Saludos cordiales
