Creo que hay problemas con esta pregunta.me parece que por esta pregunta hay dos interpretationes, no?¿Me ________ un café por favor?  Could I have a coffee please?pone si esta hablando con el camareropones si esta hablando con su esposaNo?

Yes, you're right; depending on who you are asking you could use "me pone (formal)" or "me pones (informal)". This is why for that test-question (I guess you are referring to a test question we have asking precisely that) we included a hint saying "Conjugate the usted form of "poner" in El Presente". This way you know what you need is "pone", not "pones".
