Present Continuous

I am confused because we are practicing the present tense of the verb but why are the examples in the present continuous?

Hola Swag

This is because in English, the natural tense to use when you're talking about actions that are happening at the time of speaking is the continuous present, while in Spanish, you can still use the simple present.

In these cases, when you have a different tense in Spanish and English in the lessons and test-questions, always check the hint that will tell you which specific tense we want you to conjugate.

I hope it helps and clarifies it for you.

Saludos cordiales.
