Poor examples

the same way it would be incorrect to say in English:

"The coffee changes the colour of your teeth."

The Latin Americans have a very rich history and culture.

The trouble is that both can be perfectly correct!  The former example could mean "This particular type of coffee", for example, whilst the latter is valid just as we might say "The French" or "The Spanish".

Hola Robert,

in all examples in the lesson we are always referring to a "general" subject, both in Spanish and English, not when we want to be more specific (in which case the article is needed), so:

El café es una bebida muy rica.

Coffee is a very tasty drink. (coffee in general - all coffees)

but 

The coffee is very tasty. = That coffee specifically (the one I am having) is very tasty.
