Maestra vs profesora

I wrote 'maestra' instead of 'profesora' and this was marked as a mistake. But why, isn't it the same?

I've just added "maestra" as another correct word for teacher. We are not specifying in the exercise whether it is referring to a primary school teacher or a secondary school teacher -this is the main difference between maestro/-a (primary) and profesor/-a (secondary).
