Les ayudábamos

Hola,

I think “les” is an indirect object pronoun in this phrase. I thought a direct object pronoun would be used because it is “we helped them.” We are the subject they are the direct object. Can you explain?

Many thanks. John

Hola John

The typo has been corrected. It should be "los" as a direct object pronoun referring to "them". There are cases and areas in Spain where there is a tendency to use le/les instead of lo/los, but when we refer to people in plural, which is this case, "les" (as direct objecty) is not admitted.

Thanks for letting us know.

Saludos

Inma
