In the second question for this exercise "con cual" is indicated as being correct, but the body of the exercise suggests that when speaking of people, la or el cannot be omitted.

I looked at the questions but there's no "con cual" marked as correct in the system. I think it's possible you misread the results page (your micro kwiz on 6th Feb) where the answer "con cual" is one that you chose but it is marked in red as incorrect by us. (La persona ________ fui a la fiesta era mi padre.)
The person I went to the party with was my father.
Could it be that?
