Hi Jonathan,
"It's a good job..." is used a lot in British English. It's quite idiomatic and is just another way of saying, "It's a good thing..." or "It's just as well...", e.g. It's a good job/it's a good thing/ it's just as well/thank goodness we took our raincoats, this storm is terrible" 😊
