Huir vs. Seguir (the first group of irregular gerunds)

Huir -> HuyendoSeguir -> SiguiendoShouldn't it be Siguyendo?

When we have gu + e/i, e.g. guerra, guitarra, guisar, we don't pronounce the -u; we have a soft g, the same as in the English words gate, dog, grand (as opposed to for example general, giant...)
So, when we make the gerund of the verb "seguir", we don't consider that -u as it is silent for us, therefore we have "siguiendo"; this way we still have the "gui" sound.

No, the stem change is first-class. If there aren't any stem changes, then it's "yendo". But if there are, you will need to use the stem change in the gerund form also.
