how say width (as a noun)

Question

How would you say the noun "width" in spanish?  I have seen the word "ancho" used as a noun for width but I thought that the word "ancho" was a adjective.  Can "ancho" be used as both a noun and an adjective?  I have also seen the word "anchura" used as "width", but it seems to be less common?

Hola StevenYou can use "el ancho" and "la anchura" as nouns although it's a bit more common to use "ancho".So, you can say for example "el ancho de la mesa es 125 centímetros" ( or, la anchura de la mesa es...) We also use it for "el largo", which is again more common and colloquial for "la longitud" to refer to the length. Un saludo
