Haber de + infinitive instead?

Hi there! One of the quizzes asks for the correct phrase in the following sentence:

Las aceitunas ________ en septiembre. (The olives must be harvested in September.)

Would it not be possible to use "han de recolectar" here instead of "deben ser recolectadas"?

No, "han de recolectar" isn't correct imho, but you can say "hay que recolectar".

@Cinzia, thanks. You can also use the form haber de + infinitive*. I am just wondering if in this particular case there is something to suggest that a modal verb in a passive voice should be used instead.

* Haber de + infinitive to express formal obligation or future action (perífrasis verbal)
