Why do we need the indirect pronoun in this sentence at all as Flor is referred to by name?
Is it just for emphasis, would a natural speaker include it?

yes, it is natural to include the indirect object pronoun even when we are referring to someone by name. It is used for emphasis. There is a lesson explaining this in detail, have a look here.
