Can the speaker use ojalá for himself?

Can the speaker say, ¨Ojalá aprueba el examen¨

or does he have to say it the other way, ¨Espero aprobar el examen.¨

Yes, you can use it when referring to yourself:

¡Ojalá apruebe el examen mañana!

I hope/wish I pass the exam tomorrow!
