Accidental se

We often forget that we need to take out the rubbish on Tuesdays.(HINT: Use the grammatically correct form used with the verb olvidar)How in this instance do we know to use the accidental se?Why can we not use Nos olvida, instead of se nos olvida?

There is only one correct form of olvidar in the options. You can only use "se nos olvida" out of the 4 options because the others are either using the wrong pronoun in the structure or using the verb in the wrong conjugation.
