To write a successful literary critique simply summarizing the work is not enough; it is essential to analyze it in depth. First, it is advisable to contextualize the text within its era and genre. It is also important to briefly mention the author and their career. Next, the main theme of the work should be presented. The critic must evaluate the most relevant aspects such as style, language and structure. Likewise, it is recommended that you analyze the characters and their development. Furthermore, a good critique must include concrete examples from the text to support the ideas. The ultimate goal of the critique is both to evaluate and to encourage reflection. In short, a good literary critique combines rigor, clarity and sensitivity.
