When you visit someone, it's customary to take a small gift, such as a bottle of wine or a dessert. Upon arrival, greet them with two kisses if you know the person or with a handshake if you don't. Often, it's not necessary to remove your shoes, but you can ask. Also, it's polite to offer help, for example: "Can I help you set the table?" During the meal, avoid discussing overly controversial topics, and it's best to put your phone away while talking to someone. When finished, thank them for the meal. Good manners are important, and you'll likely be invited back.
