Bodhi Day is celebrated on December 8th and commemorates the moment when Siddhartha Gautama attained enlightenment and became Buddha. Although it is a Buddhist holiday, its message transcends any religion. During this day, practitioners meditate, light candles and reflect on the path to compassion and serenity. In many homes lights are placed that symbolize both clarity of mind and the end of ignorance. Simple foods are also prepared, such as rice or tea, to remind us of the importance of humility and gratitude. Unlike other celebrations, Bodhi Day does not seek noise or spectacle. Rather it invites silence, to stop and look within. In times of stress and speed, this tradition will never cease to be relevant.

I'll be right with you...
