Pumpkin pie spices are very popular in the United States and other countries, specially during the autumn [US: fall] season. Their origin is related to the famous pumpkin pie, consumed during Thanksgiving celebrations. The mixture includes spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and in some cases, allspice. Although it does not contain pumpkin itself, these spices are often combined with pumpkin puree in cakes, cookies and drinks. One of the most popular recipes is the pumpkin spice latte, which is a drink made from coffee with milk, pumpkin puree and the spice mix. This flavour is very popular every year in the autumn [US: fall], and many coffee shops and supermarkets offer products with this touch of spice.
