The Cuban collective memory encompasses the first indigenous settlements on the island, the Spanish colonization, the fight for independence, the Cuban Revolution and the challenges and subsequent transformations. It has iconic symbols and figures like Ernesto Che Guevara and José Martí, who represent revolutionary ideals and the fight for freedom. Additionally, historical events like the triumph of the Revolution in 1959 and the subsequent relationship with the United States have left an indelible mark in the collective memory of the Cuban people.
