My grandmother had the most beautiful rosebushes in her village, and she was very proud of them! Every time someone got married in the village, the bride was given a bouquet of "Teresa's roses" as well as a beautiful white rose that she wore proudly as her corsage. Her reputation had spread to the neighbouring towns, whose inhabitants came specially on summer weekends in order to admire her magnificent rose garden. Before she died, she'd given me a cutting as a gift so that I could start my own rose garden, which touched me deeply. Unfortunately, I don't think that her gift for gardening is hereditary, and I'm going to have to increase my efforts and attention if only to keep them alive!
