Conjugate decir in El Imperativo (imperative)

The verb decir (to say/tell) is irregular in El Imperativo:

yo

usted

diga

nosotros / nosotras 

digamos

vosotros/ vosotras 

decid

ustedes

digan

Note that in El Imperativo you never use the yo form. You don't give orders to yourself!

Remember that in Spanish there are four different ways to say you:

  • = informal singular
  • vosotros/vosotras = informal plural
  • usted = formal singular
  • ustedes = formal plural

Here are some examples to look at and listen to:

¡Di la verdad!
Tell the truth! ("you" singular informal = "tú")

¡Diga la respuesta!
Say the answer! ("you" singular formal = "usted")

¡Digamos la palabra correcta! 
Let's say the right word! 

¡Decid toda la frase!
Say the whole sentence! ("you" plural informal = "vosotros")

¡Digan una mentira!
Tell a lie! ("you" plural formal = "ustedes")
