Pronouns always together?

Pronouns always together?

Hola!

I just wanted to double check this - so the pronouns are always used together?

e.g.: Me lo estoy pasando bien or Estoy pasándomelo bien,

but never: Me estoy pasándolo bien

I feel sure I've heard Spanish sentences with that arrangement before, but I can't think of an example. Does it work for some types of sentences but not others, or is it just never used that way?

Hola Anna S.

A great question — and you're absolutely on the right track!

In Spanish, when you use pronouns with progressive tenses like "estar + gerundio", both of the following placements are grammatically correct:

1. Before the conjugated verb: Me lo estoy pasando bien.

2. Attached to the gerund: Estoy pasándomelo bien.

However, your example "Me estoy pasándolo bien" mixes the two structures, which is not correct — pronouns must either both go before the conjugated verb or both attach to the gerund (or infinitive, in other cases).

It’s great that you’ve noticed how subtle word order rules can be. Keep listening — your ear for authentic usage is clearly developing well!

Saludos

Silvia
