Conjugate poner in El Imperativo

The verb poner (to put) is irregular in El Imperativo:

yo

-

pon

usted

ponga

nosotros / nosotras  

pongamos

vosotros / vosotras

poned

ustedes

pongan

Note that in El Imperativo you never use the yo form. You don't give orders to yourself!

Remember that in Spanish there are four different ways to say you:

  •  = informal singular
  • vosotros/vosotras = informal plural
  • usted = formal singular
  • ustedes =  formal plural

Here are some examples to look at and listen to:

¡Pon la mesa! 
Lay the table! ("you" singular informal = "tú")

¡Ponga atención!
Pay attention! ("you" singular formal = "usted")

¡Pongamos música! 
Let's play music! 

¡Poned la mesa ahí! 
Put the table there! ("you" plural informal = "vosotros")

¡Pongan la radio! 
Put the radio on! ("you" plural formal = "ustedes")
