Every year on 23 April book lovers celebrate International Book Day, but did you know it is also the United Nations Spanish Language Day? Many people know that 23 April 1616 was the date Shakespeare died, and most hispanophiles will know it is also the same day as Miguel de Cervantes, considered Spain's greatest novelist, poet and playwright was buried. How many of you know it is also the exact same day Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died? Inca wasn't actually his real name, it was a nickname becuase he was of mixed Spanish and Inca parentage, he was a writer and historian born in what is now Peru. He is often referred to as el principe de los escritores del nuevo mundo - the prince of New World writers. This reading and listening exercise can help you practise El Imperfecto de Subjuntivo, the passive voice, the position of adjectives.
